Saliva, a clear and viscous fluid continuously secreted by salivary glands, contains a diverse array of biomarkers that can be detected and analyzed. The quality and quantity of saliva are closely linked to the development and progression of oral diseases such as dental caries, periodontitis, and xerostomia, making it one of the crucial aspects of oral health assessment. Studies have demonstrated that saliva could serve as a valuable indicator of overall health and disease status, offering insights into various systemic conditions beyond just oral health. Additionally, the non-invasive nature of saliva sampling makes it an attractive option for risk prediction, disease diagnosis, and prognosis evaluation. This presentation aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the latest research findings on the diagnostic and prognostic potential of saliva, highlighting its role as a promising window to understanding and monitoring both oral and systemic health conditions.
