Oral health is a key indicator of overall health, well-being and quality of life of the population. All along, the oral care policy of Hong Kong has focused on increasing the awareness of the public on oral health and their proper use of oral health services. Since 2001, the Department of Health (DH) has committed to conduct a territory wide Oral Health Survey (OHS) in Hong Kong every 10 years. The purposes of the OHS are to collect updated and comprehensive data on the oral health status and related behaviours of the citizens for planning and development of public dental services that suit the needs of the population. The presentation will briefly discuss the results of the OHS 2021, and will share the details of the Primary Dental Co-care Pilot Scheme for Adolescents (PDCC) to demonstrate how the findings of OHS 2021 provides useful information in design and implementation of the programme.
